Nintendo

If you’ve got money left in your eShop account, remember to switch to a Nintendo Account by March.

We now know when Nintendo will stop online services for 3Ds and Wii U games—it’s happening on April 8th, 2024 at 4 PM PT / 7 PM ET. If you’re in Japan, it’s be the morning of April 9th at 9 AM.

If you play games on these systems, pay attention to this support page. It’s a head-up that if you have money left in your eShop account linked to a Nintendo Network ID, you have until March 11th at 10 PM Pt to connect it to Nintendo Account. Doing this allows you to use that money to buy things for the Nintendo Switch.

Even if you don’t own a Switch, you can still account and combine the funds.

A few months ago, Nintendo told that they’d be stopping some services in the spring. They mentioned that StreetPass, Pokemon Bank, and Poke Transporter would be keep going, but SpotPass services and Nintendo Badge Arcade are gone for good. The Wii U didn’t do well, selling only about 13 million units. On the other hand, the Nintendo 3Ds did much better, selling around 75 million units from 2010 until it was discontinued in 2020,

As mentioned last fall, even though the online service shutdown will end online play, leaderboards and other stuff, you can sit download updated and get back any gamers or extras you bought from Nintendo eSop for a while.
