Dune Awakening is an upcoming multiplayer online survival game made by the people who created Conan: Exiles. The game is based on the books and movies, and it lets players face the tough task of staying alive on Arrakis, the most dangerous planet in the Universe.

The latest video preview we have for Dune Awakening came out in late 2022. It’s called the ‘pre-alpha’ video, displaying the in-game scenery and giving a peek at the weather systems that will affect survival. Take a look below:

Story and Location
Dune Awakening is an online game based on Frank Herbert’s Dune books. It happens on the sandy planet called Arrakis, where a royal family named House Atreides has moved to rule.
Things get messy after a quick betrayal, and different groups start fighting for control of the planet’s main stuff, called Spice. Spice gives special powers in the Dune world, helping people with long space trips and other things. Since Spice is only on Arrakis, people have been fighting over it for a very long time.
You become The Sleeper, waking up and being pushed into the tough desert. As you go on, you can create your own group called House Minor and choose to join one of the big groups batting for control. In Dune Awakening’s story, you’ll come across characters from the books and movies, but we don’t have all the details yet.
Dune Awakening: How to Play
We haven’t seen a lot of how to play Dune Awakening yet. In the PC Gaming Show 2023, Funcom did demonstrate how vehicles will be used and talked about the main survival features of the game. You can watch the complete video by clicking here.
When you begin playing Dune Awakening, you’re thrown into the desert with just a small knife. You can collect materials from enemy camps to slowly build up your technology, weapons, and survival tools for staying alive. Arrakis is called the most dangerous planet in the universe and Dune Awakening wants to highlight survival challenges.
On Arrakis, water is super important, even more than gold. You always have to make sure you have enough water not just to live but also to do well. As you create your Guild, you’ll need water for industrial things, all aiming to capture and control areas with Spice.
In Dune Awakening, there are a lot of dangers in the environment, like big sandstorms always happening on the planet. It’s better to stay away from them at the beginning, but later, when you have more vehicles and stuff, you can use the storms to help you. There are ground vehicles like sand-bikes and tanks, and also flying vehicles. Ornithopters are used to travel long distances and to stay away from big sandworms that might surprise you on the ground.
Fighting in the game is called ‘Combines Arms’ and includes close combat (using swords and knives), shooting from a distance (using guns), and using vehicles (on the ground and in the air), and using special powers (like magic).
You can use these together, and you get to choose what you want to be good at. Dune Awakening is mostly a game where players work together against computer controlled enemies (PvE). Many players share the same server but collect loot on their own. There’s also a player versus player (PvP) part, where players can fight each other and compete for resources like Spice.
Recent News
Funcom said that players can sign up to try out a test version of Dune Awakening. Go To the game’s website, put in your email, and you might get to play it early, Right now, we don’t know when the test will happen.
