Acer shared news about some gaming screens before CES 2024. The standout is the Predator Z57, a big 57- inch display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 7680×2160 pixels. It uses special MiniLED technology for better contrast than regular screens. It’s expected to be available in the second quarter for $2,499.99 in the US and €2,399 in Europe.

The Z57 comes with AMD FreeSync Premium to make sure the screen looks smooth, and it also has useful features like a 90W USB-C PD port, two HDMI 2.1 ports, and one DisplayPort 1.3 port. It even has a built-in KVM switch for connecting different devices. Acer mentions it has 2,304 dimming zones, HDR, and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. Plus, it can display videos from various sources at the same time using picture-in-picture or a side-by-side split screen mode.

The company mentioned that the screen will show 98 percent of color in the DCI-P3 range. If you want, you can mount it on your wall because it follows VESA standards. Be sure to use a stud finder for that. Acer’s new display comes with dual 10W speakers and stand that you can adjust by tilting, swiveling, or raising and lowering.

Comparison: Predator Z57 vs. Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 – Specs and Pricing

Comparing the Predator Z57 with Samsung’s 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9 from last year makes sense. They are very similar, but there are some differences. Firstly, the G9 has faster refresh rate of 240Hz, which is twice as fast as the Z57. It also has more dimming Zones, specifically 2,392, compared to Acer’s 88 zones. While 88 zones is not a huge difference, it’s worth mentioning, especially considering the screen size. Additionally, the odyssey Neo G9 has recently been on sale in the US for just under $2,000 making it $500 cheaper than the announced price of the Predator Z57, al least for now.

Acer's Latest Predator X Series Monitors

If you prefer a smaller option, Acer is also updating its comparatively smaller 34-inch Predator X34 OLED curved monitor with a faster 240Hz panel (up from 175Hz). The company has also released a larger version of the same display, the 39-inch Predator X39, which has the same specifications, according to Acer’s announcement.
